Weight Management Research Study
Study background:
This is a research study investigating a potential new medication for weight management. Obesity is a global epidemic and major risk factor for chronic diseases, such as cerebrovascular diseases, dyslipidaemia, gastrointestinal disorders, joint and muscular disorders, respiratory problems and certain cancers. Medical intervention can assist in decreasing the risk of these diseases. On this study participants will randomly be assigned to receive either the investigational treatment, or a placebo.
Study Details
The study would require you to come to clinic 14 times and be available for two telephone visits over approximately 1 year. Visits will range between 30 minutes to 3 hours each time you come in. Over the course of the study, we will check your medical history, conduct physical examinations, perform an ECG, draw blood, and dispense the investigational treatment or placebo. The treatment is an oral tablet that will be taken in clinic or at home depending on which group you are assigned to. Participants will also receive diet and exercise counselling on this study.
You will be reimbursed for your time and involvement in the research study.
