Oscar Walsh (MBBS, FRACGP) is the Senior Research Clinician and Principal Investigator at Canopy Clinical Altona North, with extensive experience as a medical practitioner in both General Practice and Clinical Research.
Oscar has a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while advancing medical knowledge through clinical research. In his role as Principal Investigator, he oversees all studies conducted at the site, ensuring the highest standards of participant safety, ethical practice, and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
His clinical and research interests span a broad range of therapeutic areas, including immunology, endocrinology, cardiovascular disease, gastroenterology, rheumatology, and respiratory medicine. Oscar works closely with research teams, sponsors, and participants to ensure that every study is conducted with professionalism, integrity, and compassion.
Oscar is particularly passionate about the integration of innovation and technology into healthcare and clinical research, believing these tools play a key role in improving both patient experience and research outcomes. He values open communication and strives to create a welcoming, supportive environment for participants taking part in clinical trials.
Through his work, Oscar is dedicated to contributing to the future of medicine while maintaining a strong focus on quality care and trust with every patient and participant.
Andrew Walker developed an early interest in patient care during his undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Nebraska, where he focused on mental health, depressive disorders, and substance addiction. He subsequently joined a neuroscience laboratory at the University of Nebraska, researching the neural circuits involved in addiction and anhedonia.
In 2011, Andrew relocated to Melbourne to undertake his PhD at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (University of Melbourne). His doctoral research continued to explore reward‑seeking behaviour using pre‑clinical models to better understand the neural circuits underlying motivation and mental health.
Andrew transitioned into clinical research in 2017, beginning as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Nucleus Network and progressing into project management roles. Clinical research proved to be a natural fit, allowing him to maintain strong connections to scientific inquiry while directly contributing to patient‑focused, real‑world outcomes.
He has since worked as a Clinical Project Manager across both CRO and site environments, developing deep expertise and a strong passion for clinical site operations. This commitment to improving patient care ultimately led Andrew to his current role as Site Director at Canopy Clinical Altona North, where he finds it deeply rewarding to positively impact patient outcomes across Melbourne’s western suburbs.
Dr. Paul Nguyen has been with Canopy Clinical Research since November 2025. Prior to that, he worked at Emeritus Research for 3 years as a Clinical Trials Investigator, Principal Investigator and Site Medical Lead. Paul entered the world of clinical trials to use his medical knowledge in a different way, and found himself enjoying the ability to support and improve the healthcare of people at both the local and population level through his direct interactions with participants and leading clinical trials respectively.
Paul has spent his entire medical career looking at healthcare from different angles. He is a GP by training, and spent 9 years focusing on GP work, specializing in mental health, before exploring other career paths within medicine. He worked in the education field as a GP registrar site supervisor, lecturer and tutor with Eastern Victorian General Practice Training, and a tutor at the Monash University medical school. He was a Developmental Disability Medical Specialist with the Centre For Developmental Disability Health, who provided focused care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, where he conducted detailed assessments for patients and updated their educational curriculum. At present, he is also a Medical Director at InstantScripts, Australia’s largest telehealth service provider, where his portfolios include quality management, operations, and learning and development.
