Sydney, NSW – Friday 1st of May 2026 – Canopy Clinical is proud to announce the launch of a dedicated month-long education and community engagement campaign to mark International Clinical Trials Day. Canopy Clinical will be hosting a myriad of community engagement events, in addition to a digital education campaign, designed to connect with local communities across NSW, combat medical misinformation, and raise awareness of the critical importance of clinical trials.

International Clinical Trials Day commemorates the start of the landmark clinical trial, led by James Lind on sailors with scurvy, 20 May 1747. Every year, researchers, patients, caregivers, students, and the wider community, stop to recognise the vital role clinical trials play in shaping modern medicine, and to celebrate the movers and shakers in clinical research.

Canopy Clinical is delighted to announce it has officially commenced patient recruitment for its first oncology clinical trial, marking an exciting new chapter for the organisation. To celebrate the launch of its oncology research program, the Canopy Clinical team will participate in Relay For Life Sutherland Shire on Saturday the 2ndof May, standing alongside patients, survivors, and families impacted by cancer and reaffirming its dedication to improving future treatment options through clinical research.

Canopy Clinical will also be attending the GPCE Sydney Summit on the 15th to 17th of May , engaging with general practitioners and healthcare professionals to discuss current clinical research opportunities, emerging medical advancements, and the importance of evidence-based care.

In recognition of the historical foundations of clinical research, Canopy Clinical will travel to the University of Wollongong, where the team will host an educational stand focused on clinical trials awareness. Attendees will receive information about how clinical trials work, why they matter, and how individuals can get involved.

Across social media throughout the month of May, Canopy Clinical will be sharing free educational content covering the history of clinical trials, how trials are conducted today, patient safety, and the facts behind common misconceptions. These initiatives form part of the organisation’s broader mission to reduce medical misinformation and empower the public with accurate, evidence based health information.

“International Clinical Trials Day is about celebrating progress, transparency, and trust in medical science,” said Chief Executive Officer of Canopy Clinical, Kris Barooshian.

“By making education accessible and engaging, we hope to empower our communities to better understand clinical trials and the role they play in advancing healthcare.”

“Through celebration, education, and community connection, Canopy Clinical aims to make International Clinical Trials Day not only informative, but fun, inclusive, and impactful for patients, healthcare professionals, and the wider community,” Ms Barooshian concluded.
